The My Health Record is an online summary of your key health information. It is an invaluable resource for other Doctors you may consult, for health professionals in the case of an emergency and for you to simply keep track of your health information, including immunisations and medications.
Unless you have ‘opted out’ you will have a My Health Record. It brings together health information from you, your healthcare providers (such as your General Practitioner) and Medicare.
You can access your My Health Record via your Mygov account. You can log in or create a Mygov account here. Once you enter your My Health Record two years of Medicare data will automatically be imported. This includes details of any medication that you have had dispensed by a pharmacist (name of medication, dosage prescribed and the name of the doctor who prescribed it) and also details of any Medicare item numbers that have been billed against your name (the item number and the name of the Doctor you consulted). Details of the actual consultation is NOT automatically imported.
As your General Practitioners we can add clinical documents to your health record including:
- An overview of your health called a Shared Health Summary. This is a useful reference for other doctors or other healthcare providers that you visit. It contains four keys pieces of information:
- Past Medical History
- Investigation reports such as blood tests, x-rays and scans. (At this stage not all pathology and radiology companies do this automatically but we can upload your results for you upon your request.)
You can read more about My Health Record here.
The My Health Record is completely controlled by you. You control who accesses your record and the content within it. You can read more about this here.
